Endodontics
Modern dental treatment is primarily based on the prevention of gum and periodontal diseases, cavity prevention, and other oral changes. The most effective way to counteract these diseases is regular check-up visits.
However, sometimes teeth require dental treatment, and in special cases, especially when the patient starts experiencing pain, there may be a need for endodontic treatment (root canal treatment).
What does endodontics involve?
Endodontics (root canal treatment) is a branch of dentistry concerned with diagnosing and treating diseases of the dental pulp and periapical tissues. The most common reasons for endodontic treatment include deep cavities, irreversible pulp inflammation, pulp necrosis and gangrene, periapical tissue inflammation, fractures, and dental trauma. At PeriDent Dental and Periodontology Center, we perform root canal treatments using a microscope, as working under magnification ensures the highest precision throughout the treatment process.
Root Canal Treatment: We precisely locate all the canals in the tooth, then carefully clean, disinfect, and fill them. These procedures are performed painlessly, using anesthetic agents. During treatment, radiographic images are taken to assess the treatment’s progress.
: If the initial root canal treatment does not yield the expected results, re-endo, or retreatment, may be necessary. This occurs when inflammation recurs in the tooth after a period of time. Re-endo is often the best or only way to save a tooth that would otherwise need to be extracted.
Performed under microscope control, this involves sealing any holes between the pulp chamber or root canal and surrounding tissues.
This is done under magnification with specialized endodontic tools to ensure proper treatment of the tooth.
