Periodontal Surgery

How do we perform periodontal surgery?
The first stage of treatment includes detailed diagnostics, followed by the development of a treatment plan. Every patient undergoing non-surgical and surgical periodontal treatments receives education and motivation regarding daily oral hygiene. Thorough cleaning of all tooth surfaces is crucial for the success of the treatment and for maintaining optimal results in periodontal care. After completing the initial phase of non-surgical periodontal treatment, we evaluate the outcomes and, in specific clinical situations, plan surgical procedures.
As part of the perioperative care, each patient is fully informed about how to prepare for the procedure, the treatment process, and post-treatment instructions. Follow-up visits are scheduled to assess the treatment outcomes.
Procedures performed in Periodontal Surgery at PeriDent:
Regenerative Procedures: Bone regeneration using platelet-rich plasma, biomaterials, and barrier membranes.
This procedure covers exposed root cement (e.g., at the “neck” of the teeth). It improves aesthetics, reduces tooth sensitivity, and prevents decay. Factors contributing to gum recession include thin gum biotype, improper oral hygiene, incorrect brushing, orthodontic treatment, and poorly executed fillings.
Performed on natural teeth and as part of implant-prosthetic treatments.
Deepening the oral vestibule improves the retention of prosthetic restorations.
Surgical or laser correction of improper frenulum attachment of the tongue or lips.
Surgical correction of the gum tissue along the gum line to reduce gum visibility and expose more of the clinical crowns of the teeth.
